Bertha Elizabeth (Fransk) Archambeau, 75, of Hermantown passed away with family by her side on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 after battling with cancer. She was born on December 6, 1940 to Theodore and Margaret "Daisy" Fransk in Duluth.

Bertha's achievements while at the Proctor High School (Class of '58) were many. She was particularly proud to earn the title of Head Majorette during her senior year. She was also involved in the chorus, as well as a reporter for the school newspaper, "The Mallet". She was remembered as being fun loving and very well-liked by everyone.

Her career pursuits were mainly service oriented. She worked for many years as a pre-school teacher at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Proctor, where she worked diligently caring for her students, often going beyond her job duties to make sure each child felt safe, loved, and needed. After receiving her certificate as a Nurse's Aide, she went on to work at Lake Haven Manor for close to 20 years. Even after her official retirement, she continued in her profession for the next 10 years with Heritage Haven Nursing Home. It was obvious to all who knew her that Bertha truly cared for people.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Kenny Archambeau: sister, Audrey "Honey" Archambeau; and step-son, Mike Archambeau.

Bertha will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 47 years, Gene Archambeau of Hermantown; children, James (Jungmi) Dahlquist of Rapid City SD, and Jayme Christine of South Range WI; step-daughter, Terri (Rick) Wagner of Hermantown and their children, Melissa and Christina; one grandson, Robert Walker of Duluth; three sisters, Peggy Jugasek, Claudia (Jim) Gannucci, and Kathy (Dick) Jazdzewski; three brothers, Buzzy (Lydia), Ken, and Rick (Theresa); and numerous nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service Friday, October 21, 2016 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N 56th Ave. W., Duluth.
